A traditional Polish wedding used to be a three or even four evening matter. Frequently, it was held outside in landscapes, forests and barns. They were a celebration of life and the bounty of nature. Now, however, many couples choose to forgo the chapel and basically include a ceremony in their apartment or backyard with close family and friends. As the few leave the church, guests wash them with pennies and granules, to supply them luck and prosperity. They subsequently change into their group clothing. It is also conventional to lob little, spherical coins into the couple’s scalp– whoever collects the most will get in charge of their finances.
